Hair is a huge part of the Latinx community. Everyone has had different experiences with taking care of their hair – depending on the type of hair you have. Some are taught how to deep condition their curly hair while others are brought to get their hair done at the salon almost every week. Refinery 29 writer, Thatiana Diaz, spoke with some of her Latina coworkers and asked what some of their favorite products they use for their hair. Here’s what they say:
1. John Frieda Frizz Ease Daily Nourishment Conditioner
Got a lot of tangles and are you looking for something to help protect from heat damage? This is the conditioner you should
2. Garnier Sleek and Shine Leave-In Conditioner
Also a great product for frizz control! This one has two main ingredients argan oil and apricot, which are great for hair and leaves the hair feeling manageable and moisturized.
3. Nuxe Huile Multi-Usage Dry Oil
One of the writers explains why she loves this oil so much. She says, “This oil has been a favorite of mine for a long time, but I’ve mainly used it on my body, face, or as a perfume (it has an amazing scent). One day, I tried it on my hair and I immediately fell in love. It’s been so good to me after a wash — giving my dry strands moisture and shine.”
4. Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray
Oribe’s website gives a description of the product saying, “This invisible dry hair spray builds in incredible volume and sexy texture. Patented polymers absorb oil at the roots, leaving you with just-styled hair for days (and nights).”
5. Botánika Beauty The Protector
Author Thatiana Diaz writes, “As the last step in my current curly hair routine, this alcohol-free gel makes sure my strands are defined and frizz-free. Plus, it’s founded by a fellow Latina, which I’m always happy to support.”
6. Cantu Shea Butter Leave-In Conditioning Repair Cream
This leave-in conditioning cream is best for more than one type of hair – relaxed, texturized, colored, and permed hair. It can also help with split ends and strengthening fragile hair.
7. Rizos Curls Curl Defining Cream
HipLatina writes “This deeply hydrating leave-in conditioner is formulated with aloe, coconut oil, and shea butter, leaving curls silky soft and amazingly defined. It gets my curls slaying without the crunch and all while preventing any signs of frizz.”
8. Mielle Babassu Oil And Mint Deep Conditioner
The website explains how this product was made and the benefits to go along with it, writing, “Derived from an Amazonian palm fruit, babassu oil contains high concentrations of sterols and tocopherols, which can improve hair and scalp health. That’s why it’s one of the main ingredients of this organic hair conditioner. Our Babassu Oil & Mint Deep Conditioner is enriched with fatty acids and natural oils, as well as complex amino acids from wheat, soy, and other all-natural ingredients, to help hydrate and replenish your hair.”
