🎉CELEBRATING 100 EPISODES!!!!🎉 ◽️ In honor of this milestone, I wanted to use this episode to take you back to just BEFORE I launched Redefining Wealth because most of the success I’ve had in life weren’t one mountain top to mountain top experience. ◽️ Before Redefining Wealth I experienced great success as America’s Money Maven. I had a weekly segment for years on a nationally syndicated radio show. I was doing other shows like Dr. Oz and being featured by publications like Cosmopolitan, the New York Post and Essence Magazine. I had a good name as a #moneyexpert. Why would I change all of that? 🤔 ◽️ Here’s what we’re talking about on today’s celebration episode: ✅ What if your season has long expired and you’re extending it out of fear, complacency or delusion? ✅ How can you ever celebrate the 100th if you allow fear to rob you of moving forward with the first? ✅ A season doesn’t have to be bad in order for you to decide to change. Maybe God has better? 🤷🏾‍♀️ ✅ We’re meant to evolve and if we don’t move when our season is up, then we go bankrupt emotionally, mentally, spiritually, financially. ◽️ Tune in. This week’s episode, When a Season is Up, will hopefully encourage you to examine if you’ve overstayed your welcome in a season no longer serving you and inspire you to embrace what may be waiting for you on the other side of surrendering. 🙏🏾 If you listened, would LOVE to hear your thoughts OR just drop me a line about what the podcast has done for you! Let’s celebrate! 🎉💖 ◽️ #RedefiningWealth #PatriceWashington #podcastersofinstagram #podsincolor #cantstopwontstop #podcaster #chasepurposenotmoney #MoneyMaven

Net Worth and Debt Payoff Update – Back in March, we calculated our combined net worth for the first time and to our surprise it wasn’t as bad as we thought (-$6,028.97). We’re happy to say that we’re now “In the Black” 🙌 – There’s a quote that is circulated in the personal finance space that goes along the lines of “6-12 months of intense focus can work wonders on your finances” – we’re a living testament to that. In less than 4 months we’ve increased our net worth by 493.5% (pats self on the back 👏) – Not only have we crossed into the black, we’ve crushed our 2019 debt payoff goals. As you can see you from the second picture, the next debt we’ll be tackling is Ashonzay’s car, which we hope to have down to about $13K by the end of the year! – We share this with everyone as a source of motivation and inspiration of what’s possible with teamwork and intense focus on the goal(s) at hand. While we aren’t where we want to be yet, we definitely aren’t where we started! Remember the goal is progress not perfection. Have a blessed Tuesday everyone. . . . . . . . . . #budgetmanagement #debtelimination #wealthcreation #debtfreecommunity #debtfree #financialfreedom #millennials #savings #investing #budget #debt #wealth #millenialcouples #millenialswithmoney #budget #budgetinghacks #budgettips #moneytipfeed #personalfinance #FIREmovement #healthiswealth

Four years ago, we were struggling to make ends meet. There was never any money left at the end of the month, our saving account was non-existent, and we could not afford for anything to go wrong. Thing is you’d never know it if you saw us. We were living our best “lie.”⁣ ⁣ That’s when I decided heck, if we’re going to be broke it may as well be on our terms, and I flipped the script on the situation.⁣ ⁣ Being Broke on Purpose® has been one big lesson in abundance and contentment. I may not be able to do what everyone else does, but there’s fullness and “richness” within my life that an abundance of money would never be able to bring me. ⁣ ⁣ I’m rich in love.⁣ I’m rich in health.⁣ I’m rich in spirit⁣ I’m rich in friends.⁣ I’m rich in family.⁣ I’m rich in life⁣ ⁣ Ask yourself this,⁣ ⁣ What type of life are you chasing? Are you pursuing a life where you just have an excess of money or one where you’re able to do above and beyond with what you’ve been given?⁣ ⁣ I find peace in knowing that the word “Rich” doesn’t have to be synonymous with “money.”⁣ ⁣ #brokeonpurpose⁣ #debtfreecommunity⁣ #debtfreejourney⁣ #finances⁣ #financialfreedom⁣ #financialliteracy

Just a friendly reminder that you are always one decision away from a totally different life. In September 2018 I officially became debt free and in Feb of 2019, we got back into debt with a mortgage but have been and are completely consumer debt free (no car loans, no student loans, no revolving credit card debt- we now use a credit card to make purchases we’ve already budgeted for and pay the card off in full for points- next month our trip will be almost entirely funded by credit card points). We own everything but the house and owe no one else but the mortgage company. Life/options opens up a lot more when debt is out of the way. #debtfree #debtfreecommunity #debtfreejourney #debtfreegoals #savings #goodcredit #budgeting #budget #moneymanagement #personalfinanceforwomen

It’s okay not to have the perfect plan. In fact, I’d rather you not. When I first left school I planned my life in 5 year increments. Usually around the income I wanted to make, the career achievements I’d hope to have on my resume. Meeting Mr. Savemycents after a really sad breakup changed everything. My breakup taught me that people and relationships are far more fragile than businesses. And now with baby Savemycents, I even more so realize, I have one shot to be the best mom I could be for junior, I have many shots to succeed in career. I’m excited to launch something in September and I can’t tell you how many negative voices in my head I deal with every day. Shang you don’t have time. Shang you’re not the nicest person on earth. Shang you’re crazy. Shang you need more scale before you can do it and you’re not growing enough followers. Confronting them and telling these voices to be quiet is a regular part of being an #entrepreneur. The biggest negative voice is, Shang you don’t need to be a #momtrepreneur. It’s true. I don’t NEED to do anything with savemycents. I WANT to. And I need to balance that against the real little person who is going to need me soon. Every weekend I have been working to engage with Mr. Savemycents on whether our time is being spent well. This past weekend was wrecked by his jet lag (which frustrated me, tbh) so we’ll try again. Even the best of marriages are imperfect. When did you learn to let go of perfection? You know a lot of people tell me the number one thing that gets in the way of their retirement dream and starting their Everyday Millionaire journey is student loan debt. The average person takes about 21 years to pay off their student loans. So, this is delaying them from investing into their retirement because they’re spending their first 21 years paying back debt. That’s NOT okay! The #DebtFreeDegree book can help you guide your children to avoid mistakes that you may have made. My friend, @AnthonyOneal is teaching parents of young people what they need to do to go to college 100% debt free! If you’re a parent or know a parent of a young child, get this book so they can get on a plan and start their Everyday Millionaire journey sooner rather than later. Preorder your copy of #DebtFreeDegree on the link in my bio.
