Is Afropean A Thing? African Influencing Markets & Music

‘Sounds’ like it! Afropean: a fusion of sounds from Rhythm and Blues, African influences and neo-soul vibes pulsing through (more like sashaying through your ears) are more than likely brought to you by Les Nubians- the songstresses and sisters Hélène and Célia Faussart.

The duo, originally from France, is known for singing in both English and French, and never shying away from blending cultural (and musical) influences when performing. The sound has been dubbed “Afropean.”

An album called “Nü Revolution” is a great example, and their single “Makeda,” a leisurely track that puts their dulcet voices front and center.
